Holly was a custom order, and I was so excited because I hardly ever get to create something brand new from scratch these days. And let me tell you — there were no existing grub patterns anywhere. Caterpillar patterns were the closest, but they weren’t quite right.

So I started from zero.

I studied cartoon renditions, looked closely at the AI image the customer sent, and sketched out how I wanted her to look. The biggest challenge? I really wanted her to stand upright, which meant planning the shaping, weight distribution, and stitch structure carefully. It took some experimenting, but I’m genuinely thrilled with how she turned out — tall, expressive, and wonderfully full of character.

And yes — I developed a full crochet pattern for her, which is available separately in my store for makers who want to create their own giant grub friend.
