This week’s project is one of my absolute favourites — Freddy the Frog, a tall, bendy, sassy little character who’s full of personality and charm. If you’re a frog lover, amphibian lover, nature lover, or someone who just can’t resist a quirky handmade friend… Freddy might be exactly what you’ve been waiting for.

Freddy stands at 52 cm tall (about 20.4 inches), so he’s definitely one of my taller makes. And thanks to the aluminium wiring inside his skinny arms and legs, he’s very bendy. Honestly, he’s basically a yoga master. If you need a yoga buddy, Freddy is your frog. He’ll happily come to class with you — but be warned, he’s a show‑off. Downward frog? He invented it.

He’s also got a bit of sass. Freddy is not afraid to tell you how it is, and that’s part of his charm. He’s the kind of character who looks like he’s been around the pond a few times and has opinions about everything.

If you’re thinking of getting Freddy for a child, you can absolutely leave the wiring out and make him a floppy frog instead — soft, safe, and perfect for cuddles.

I make a whole range of character creatures, and Freddy fits right in. Even though I use the same basic structure for many of my makes, the fun part is always turning each one into something visually unique. Freddy’s long limbs, expressive face, and bendy body make him such a standout.
