This Week’s Make: Miss Twinkle Trotters
Some characters arrive on my hook with a little extra sparkle, and Miss Twinkle Trotters is absolutely one of them. She’s my nostalgic, glamorous take on a certain iconic diva from childhood screens — but with her own original KiwiCuddlies personality, charm, and storybook magic woven into every stitch.
I first designed Miss Twinkle Trotters back in 2019, and she’s been a favourite ever since. This week’s version marks only the third time I’ve made her, and she’s had a bit of a glow‑up. The last two wore a shimmering blue dress, but this time she stepped out in a bold, glittery red gown — and honestly, she owns it.
Her dress gave me a good laugh while I was making it. I used a thinner‑gauge, shimmery red acrylic yarn, and when it came time to dress her, I had to really stretch it to get it on. It felt so perfectly “Twinkle” — squeezing into a dress that’s probably a size too small, but absolutely determined to make it work. A true glamazon moment.
Over the years, I’ve also developed a full crochet pattern for her, and seeing other makers bring her to life has been such a joy. One of my favourites was a version finished off with a tiny pearl necklace — the level of glamour was off the charts. It’s always magical watching how different hands interpret her personality, each one adding their own little twist.
Miss Twinkle Trotters is all about the details: her expressive face, her dramatic lashes, her perfectly coiffed hair. She’s confident, sparkly, and just a little bit extra — in the best possible way. Every time I make her, she feels like she’s getting ready for a night out somewhere fabulous.
And this week, she’s ready for her next big adventure. I actually have one Miss Twinkle Trotters in stock, all dressed up and available for immediate dispatch to her glamorous forever home. She’s been slumming it with me for long enough — she’s absolutely itching to join someone’s shelf, nursery, or display cabinet where she can shine the way she was meant to.
Here’s to Miss Twinkle Trotters — a little diva, a little nostalgia, and a whole lot of handmade magic stitched into every detail.
Cheers!
